Parkway EZ-Tag Conversion
The Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority continues to seek methods to improve the safety and convenience to the traveling public on both the Westpark Tollway and the Fort Bend Parkway. In the very near future the Authority will make changes to convert the Fort Bend Parkway to an all electronic toll collection system. This change will greatly enhance safety by eliminating the disparity in speed between the EZ-Tag lanes and the cash lanes as well as the danger created by traffic merging from the cash lanes back into the main lanes. The conversion will also eliminate the large queues that often times form at peak periods delaying patrons commute to and from work. The decision to make this change was based upon the three years of very positive experience the Authority has had on the Westpark Tollway. For current EZ-Tag customers there will be no change; for those Parkway patrons who do not currently have an EZ-Tag they should apply for an EZ-Tag either online, through the mail, or in person at one of the EZ-Tag Stores. Follow the link on this website to go to the EZ-Tag store online, have an application mailed to you, or get directions to the nearest EZ-Tag Store. In addition to the EZ-Tag, the toll road accepts any electronic toll tag which participates in the TxTag inoperability agreement. This includes the TxTag used in the Austin area and the Toll-Tag used in Dallas. Similarly your EZ-Tag will work on those roads.

Q: When will the Fort Bend Parkway replace cash machines with EZ-tag only toll gates?
A: The Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road is currently scheduled to convert all toll plazas into all electronic EZ tag-only tollgates mid Summer of 2008.

Q: Why has the Authority decided to make this transition?
A. Safety of our patrons has always been the main concern for the Authority. The mixing of high-speed/low-speed driving and emerging vehicles in lanes is a major safety concern. We’ve had such a positive response with the Westpark Tollway program that we felt we should duplicate it with the parkway.

Q: Will only part of the Parkway be EZ tag?
A. No. The entire length of the Fort Bend Toll Road, from the Beltway 8 to Highway 6 will be fully electronic. Only vehicles with EZ TAGs / Tx Tags will be permitted to use the toll road.
B. Southbound motorists paying cash from 90A to Beltway 8, without an EZ tag, will have to exit at Beltway 8.

Q. How far is Beltway 8 from the main toll plaza?
A. The distance between Beltway 8 and the main toll plaza is approximately 2.5 miles.

Q: Will the cost of tolls increase with the conversion?
A: No. The cost is $1 to travel the entire length of the Parkway.

Q: I don’t have an EZ TAG. How does the program work?
A: The EZ TAG program allows participating motorists to prepay their tolls using a major credit card or direct debit payment option. There is an initial deposit of $40 (for the first three tags). The EZ TAG itself is a small credit-card sized device that adheres to the inside of the windshield. As EZ TAG patrons use the system, tolls are electronically deducted from their accounts. When an EZ TAG account reaches the minimum balance level, it automatically recharges (or debits) the customer's credit card or bank account to bring it back to the original deposit amount. The EZ TAG is completely compatible with the Harris County toll road system.

The EZ TAG is also part of the TX TAG system that allows patrons to use participating toll roads across the state. Participating agencies can be identified by the square red, white and blue TX TAG emblem on the toll plaza lane identification signs.

Q: What if I don’t have a credit card?
A: If no credit card is available, then you will need to set up a manual account with TxTag and make payments by mail. It will be your responsibility to monitor your TxTag account to ensure enough funds remain in your account at all times. Mail or drop off a check or money order at the TxTag Customer Service Center at 12719 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78727. Make check payable to "TxTag CSC" and be sure to include your Account Management Card Number on the check or money order. Please allow five to seven working days for mail delivery and posting to your account. Call 1-888-GoTxTag.

Q. Where do I get an EZ-TAG?
A: Applications are available on the Harris County Toll Road Authority Website. You can also have an application mailed to you, by calling (281) 875-EASY. Fill it out completely, and return it to the EZ TAG Store address on the form. Your TAG will be mailed to you complete with mounting instructions. You can also stop by any of the EZ TAG Stores to apply and pick up your TAG the same day.

Q: How do I contact someone at the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority?
A: You can contact the Toll Road Authority at 281-242-9740 or by email at
